Jet Skis are a lot of fun, but they can also be dangerous. That’s why you should take the time to learn about personal watercraft safety and purchase a Jet Ski insurance policy before hitting the water this summer.

Personal watercraft — such as Jet Skis, Sea Doos, and Wave Runners — are not usually covered by homeowners or auto insurance, and even if they are the coverage limits are often very low.

Only a Jet Ski insurance policy will ensure that you, your passenger, and your personal watercraft are fully covered in the event of an accident.

Similar to an auto insurance policy, a typical personal watercraft insurance policy covers:

  • Bodily injury
  • Property damage
  • Guest passenger liability
  • Medical payments
  • Theft

A typical policy in Kentucky or Ohio includes a $250 deductible for property damage, $500 for theft, and $1,000 for medical payments. In addition, some Jet Ski insurance policies include water sports liability, which covers risks associated with water sports like tubing and waterskiing.

Deductibles and coverages very depending on the insurance company you choose.
